Another Incident that makes you go: "WTF, America"

Tuesday, November 20, 2007
On the heels of the Megan Meiers story, where an adult takes her teenage girls school issues into ther own hands, we have Crazy Joe Horn of Pasadena, TX.

If you haven't heard this guy's story, go to CBSNEWS which has the transcripts of the 911 call included in their story.

Most distressing are the comments associated with this story. This is the part that makes me go "WTF, America?"

People are cheering this guy who intentionally goes out and shoots two home burglars. Who, by the way, are NOT burglarizing his home but of a neighbor in which he is not even close.

People say this guy had every right to shoot. That this is covered under the Castle Doctrine.

What?!
I think the "Castle Doctrine" applies to your own home, not your neighbors.

Joe Horn was told multiple times not to take any action by the police.
Joe Horn blatently disregarded orders by the police to stay in his home.
Joe Horn could have easily shot some innocent child playing in the neighborhood that day.

Since when does the death penalty apply to home burglary? According to Joe Horn's warped sense of vigilante justice, it most certainly applies.

Joe Horn, go directly to prison and do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

The only good thing that might come of this is that states might now repeal their Castle Doctrine Laws since idiots like Joe Horn seem to think it applies at any time, at any place.

Not going to happen. In Texas it is lawful to use force - even lethal force - under certain conditions to protect life *and* property.

Spare me the liberal cant about "putting property over life." The two burglars were the ones who decided that question when they unlawfully broke into another man's home. Down here, a man's home is his castle.

Joe Horn will never be convicted of homicide by a jury of his peers. Burglars might want to take note, and go ply their dangerous trade somewhere else, perhaps one of the "civilized" states with victim-disarmament laws such as new York, New Jersey, or Illinois.

Ednor,
Of course he won't be convicted in Texas because Texas has proven time and again it is uncivilized and RedNeckNation headquarters.

Yes, the Castle Doctrine says you can use lethal force under certain conditions. Joe Horn did not meet these conditions. In addition, Joe Horn shows how people will use it as a blanket "I'm the law, now" permission to shoot first and ask questions later.
