Powerball is at $250 million

Friday, February 10, 2006
The Powerball game is at $250 million dollars this Saturday. I do buy a ticket for every draw when I remember. I have had some folks say that the lottery is just another tax on poor people. That may be true for people who buy $20-30 in tickets.

However, how can one pooh-pooh spending $2 a week on this? Going to the movies cost $6-10 and provides about 2 hours of escapism and fantasy. When powerball jackpots are this outragously high, I can easily fantasize about how and where I would spend that much moolah. Who would I give money? Who wouldn't I give money? Would I buy real estate? Would I take a fantastic trip? Would I quit my job? If so, what would I do all day long? Could I start some sort of charitable foundation?

Yes, it lasts longer than a movie and at less than 1/3 of the cost!
