Two Steps Forward, Three Steps Back

I've been doing the dance we do (mating ritual dance?) when we have interest in someone of the opposite sex (or the same sex--whatever works for you). But, this time the dance has been very akward. It makes a little progression and then makes such a big digression that it almost gives me whiplash. Leading up to the holidays it really looked like this was getting somewhere. I saw him right after New Years and he was not very nice. So, I've spent the last few days wondering why I even bother.

I just wonder: Was he feeling the holiday spirit and it instantly turns off once the clock strikes midnight on New Years Eve? Is this guy just moody? I swear he is more of an emotional hormonal roller-coaster than a girl.

I live a very sad and lonely life. The bit of exhilaration I might get doesn't balance out the total melancholy of the bad days. It really is only making matters worse. Again, why do I bother? I think I might not from now on.
