A kiss is not a kiss
Friday, January 06, 2006
The other day I receive a kiss from a man of interest. The scenario surrounding it made me think how all kisses are not created equal.
The kiss was just one of those "pucker kisses". All lips, all pucker and really only barely any lips touching. I laughed that it was the way I would kiss Zoey or Shelby. He noted that we were in public and he didn't want to "stick his tongue down my throat."
First, let me state that I agree that I don't need his tongue on my tonsils at any time, let alone in public. I really don't like overdone public displays of affection.
However, isn't there a wide range of kisses between the pucker and sticking your tounge down my throat? There is the soft kiss--the typical first kiss--that's all lips, but lingering and sweet. Then there is the mouth barely open, usually used as a signal to take things further. The next level I would see as just slight bit of tongue. And you preceed from there to the total tonsil hockey--a level where I am not a big fan, much like ice hockey.
I know I am overthinking this but kisses themselves are very important to me. I will take a good kisser/bad lover any day of the week cause you can always show him what pleases you. However, bad kissing is almost ingrained in the person. It is hard to correct. And because it is the initial intimacy it isn't the easiest to mention. And, frankly, bad kissing will get you nowhere past that intial intimacy stage.
Hmmm..kisses. I think I might have to come up with a list of some of the best kissers and best kisses.
