School Stress
Monday, March 14, 2005
Today, I am a bit stressed about school. I have a mid-term in biology on Saturday and have two quizzes to finish before then.
In my Intro to Classroom Teaching, I am supposed to be observing at the high school level this month. I had it all setup to do North County Tech, but they nixed that because the school is in St. Louis County. Huh? Like I plan on teaching at the all-cracker high school of Ft Zumwalt West (or North, South, whatever).
It's just so myopic on the part of the Education Department at my school that they don't FORCE the students to observe at urban schools, inner-ring suburb schools AND outer-suburb schools. Even a rural school district would be a good idea. But, nooooo. Let's do everything in these plain school districts. I think they are missing the point of the class.
Well, that rant really wasn't my point. The point is that they have not yet assigned me to a school at all. Today is March 14. Spring break for my school is next week. When am I supposed to get 12 hours of observation time done between now and then. And that's assuming they call me right this minute to give me the assignment. My elementary observation starts March 30, so it has to be done before then. (BTW, my elementary observation is in St. Louis County--my only school districts I listed on our request sheet were STLCounty. So, why the big deal about the high school?)
I am at my wit's end about this. I know I will end up having to take vacation days to do this observation which totally sucks.
