Getting Information or Stirring the Pot?
Thursday, June 10, 2004
Recently, we received a very benevolent e-mail stating that since the American Independence Day Holiday of July 4 fell on a Sunday this year, we could have Monday, July 5th as a paid holiday.
Our library is open 7 days a week. Does this mean we are closed both Sunday AND Monday? What about that Saturday?
I just sent an e-mail to the director of our library (and copied the entire staff) inquiring as to what the policies were regarding these days. My usual schedule is Tuesday thru Saturday, so Sunday and Monday paid holidays will not affect or benefit me. Now there does appear to be some inequity in that I receive NO benefit and some people, those who work on Sunday, get to "double dip". Do I get an additional day?
I am sure some will see this as stirring the pot (like I give a rat's ass). I just wanted to tie down my schedule and get some information.
