Big Girl, Little Toys Part II

Tuesday, October 21, 2008
My next little toy is my newest purchase. I need a new laptop. When searching around, I noticed that there were these new, mini-laptops. Most have about an 8.5" screen. After looking around and reading review (and tiring of waiting for Dell to come out with their Mini), I decided on an Acer Aspire One.

They now have one with a more powerful battery and a bit larger hard drive. It not only gets the job done and is ultra-portable, it gets lots of comments at the library, the coffee shop or any where else I whip it out and log into the internet.

Big Girl, Little Toys Part I

I have lots of fun little gadgets I am using to utilize Social Media tools. The first is one I bought for myself with "change". Basically, I was saving my coins in big, over-sized Pepsi bottle. At same time last year, CoinStar (which I usually think of as a big rip-off for their high fees) was offering free coin changing if you had your coins turned into an Amazon gift certificate. In addition, if you had over $30 you would get an additional $10.

So, after doing this several times, I almost had enough for the $150 video camera. (Of course, like all technology, is cheaper now.). I bought my Flip Ultra! I use it to video everything! Children's school plays. City Council Meetings. Political speeches.

It is so easy to use. You can go from box to making a video in the short time it takes to load the two AA batteries. Then, you can go from video production to YouTube in a matter of minutes.

I could not give this a higher recommendation.
