Group Projects
Saturday, October 23, 2004
It seems that every semester I have a class that requires a group project. One one hand, I see the benefit of teaching teamwork. That is truly is a slice of how life is in the outside world.
On the other hand, why should I let some punk bring down my grade?! Why should some lazy person be able to get away with not pulling their weight, while the rest of us do twice the work to make up for these fools?!
So, teachers of the world: keep the group projects--they do have some benefit. However, do not make them count as much toward the final grade that one non-participant can affect the grades of the rest.

And after I promised to be more diligent
Well, I haven't posted since the beginning of the month. And this after I promised to be more diligent.
However, exciting things are happening and by November 1 I might be a completely new woman. Some of the stuff I can't go into detail at this time.
One exciting thing of course is that the Redbirds are going to the World Series!!!! But, that is minor compared to the other stuff. Well, maybe not minor but the Cards thing involves the whole city where the other stuff is personal to me.
Tune in after November 1 for all the scoop.

The Library is no fun
Saturday, October 02, 2004
I am really starting to hate working at the library. My boss has been such a bitch for the last few months. She is hypercritical over silly stuff and jumps all over you when you are trying to just make conversation. And the hypercritical stuff is hyper-hypocritical. It's not as if she is "super-manager" and has made progress in leaps and bounds around here. Things are still crap. You have to pull teeth to get anything done (e.g. put books away, have the bathrooms cleaned).
This week I asked to change my schedule around so that I can 1) work on some school stuff and 2) put a dent in some of the projects I have been assigned. She jumped all over me. Started bringing up how she needed me to work more mornings (note: I only eliminated one morning I needed to work and will only have one day off). I replied to some of her concerns, even offering to change my school schedule around next semester. Then she jumped all over me again about replying to her. Hello?! I know this BITCH is so against communication, but to say "don't reply to the issues I bring up" is just ludicrous!
First, she knew I was a student when she hired me. She even said that this might work out well because Mark was wanting to keep his morning hours. So, why is this an issue NOW?!
Second, I have to harp on this communication issue. She has created an environment where noone can stand each other and that information is not freely passed.
Need to know that the computers will be down all day? That's for me to know and you to find out?
Would like information on new library projects? That's none of your business!
Arrghh. I need to update my resume.

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you
Whoo....school, work, etc is kicking my butt this semester. It's just busy, busy, busy.
Some good points: I am getting A's in all of my classes.
I will be inducted into Phi Theta Kappa (honor society) next Sunday.
I joined the history club. (Can I be a bigger geek?)
Hopefully I will be a stranger no more.
